Job Overview
The Social Cohesion Project Manager is responsible for leading a project team to successfully deliver the social cohesion project in Diyala (Muqdadiya and Baquba). This will include the direct line management of one field team in Diyala and the implementation of all the projects designated outputs on time, according to the workplan, and within budget. The Project Manager will oversee a direct implementation of day-to-day activities. He/She will ensure project recording keeping, reporting, and an active culture of organizational learning
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the team in successful implementation of project activities on time and within budget to the highest quality.
- Coordinate, plan, and monitor project activities in the project area.
- Take leadership of the project programs in terms of high quality and timely deliveries, narrative reporting and financial overviews, close cooperation with donors, civil society and government counterparts and coordination mechanism, in synergy with other MLO interventions in the area
- Coordinate with sector coordinators for technical inputs and developing project related operational tools and training modules.
- Provide regular input for donor reporting and ensure proper documentation of project activities, in compliance with MLO policy.
- Provide overall budget monitoring, financial management and expenses control for the project activities, including compliance with minimum MLO and donor requirements
- Maintain ongoing conflict analysis on changes in local conflict dynamics and possible impact on programming.
- Develop and reinforce relationships with local stakeholders and partners, including community leaders and civil authorities in the location.
Accountability and reporting
- Under the supervision of Head of Program, continuously monitor and develop relevant accountability initiatives within relevant project program as well as strengthening the effort to document the impact of activities
- Ensure compliance with MLO financial, logistics, and human resources policies and procedures in coordination with the Area team and country office
People Management
- Lead and manage project staff members working in the project location, including coaching, ensuring coordination, recruitment, and capacity development
- Provide on the job training as much as required and adapt trainings/coaching to specific staff needs
Representation & Coordination
- Represent MLO at the local level NGOs coordination or any other relevant Govt. line department briefings.
- Coordinate and maintain close working relationships where relevant with government departments in the overall implementation of project activities.
Other
- Ensure adherence to MLO national staff policy guidelines and Code of Conduct.
- Ensure compliance with MLO AGD policy and AGD programmatic minimum standards.
- Ensure compliance with the zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy
- Ensure compliance with MLO guidelines and policies on HR, admin, finance, and supply.
- Perform any other relevant tasks as requested by the Head of Program.
Academic Qualification/s and Professional Experience
- University Degree Preferably in Social Sciences
- At least three years of experience working with non-governmental organizations
- At least three years of project management experience.
Required Skills and Capabilities:
- At least one year of demonstrated work experience with communities conducting community dialogue facilitation exercises. Work experience in the field of peace building/social cohesion is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide trainings and build capacity of other staff using positive learning techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in programming engaging youth
- Excellent coordination skills and demonstrated experience in multi stakeholder engagement
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously
- Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and supporting people effected by conflict; previous experience in delivering humanitarian programming is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of gender and protection mainstreaming; a commitment to apply an age, gender and diversity (AGD) approach to programming.
- Strong analytical and communication, negotiation, advocacy and diplomacy skills; effective in representation and liaison with external parties.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to quickly develop good insight and understanding of the political environment of the country;
- Fluency in Arabic
- Fluency English (Mandatory)
