Social Media Coordinator (reports through Director and Associate Director)

Position Description:

This role will identify and develop objectives, audiences and best strategy to implement targeted social media communications and editorial and visual content. This role will conduct audience research regarding AUIB’s diverse stakeholders and outreach target communities, and conceptualize, strategize, create, write, proofread, and edit all University social media content (in Arabic and English) and will plan and execute the University’s strategic social media campaigns.

Main duties and key responsibilities include:

  • Performs as AUIB’s Social Media Coordinator and creates and executes all functions of the position in coordination with and under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director
  • Serves as a focal point for both the AUIB internal community and external stakeholders concerning social media efforts and outreach
  • Provides a consistent brand voice across all social media content, materials, and activities
  • Tracks campaign trends and results and compares with goals with a dedication to continuous improvement/engagement
  • Tracks engagement metrics and monitors SEO
  • Facilitates social media community conversations and responds to queries
  • Develops an optimal posting schedule that considers web/platform traffic and engagement metrics
  • Develops original and unique content that promotes the AUIB brand and creates engagement that drives web and social media platform traffic
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and executes social media opportunities for the institution’s events, leadership, partnerships, faculty, and students
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of proprietary data, materials, and other sensitive information
  • Liaises with Marketing and Communications team regarding content creation and updates, prioritizes needs, and helps develop content
  • Collaborates and assists with all Marketing and Communications initiatives, informing team colleagues of social media opportunities and trends as part of a holistic AUIB brand outreach and development
  • Interprets competitor strategies and consumer/audience behavior
  • Converts large amounts of social media trend data into meaningful analysis and user-friendly formats for diverse audiences and needs
  • Works under pressure and adheres to strict deadlines
  • Advises team on social media branding and reputation opportunities, including reputational risk
  • Identifies exposure opportunities for the AUIB brand and creates social media campaigns that push the University’s mission and vision forward to identified stakeholders
  • Helps department leads manage and track strategic initiatives, working with direct supervisors, peers, and other internal departments, programs, and Colleges to track progress and results and inform future exposure and outreach decisions
  • Ensures accuracy and attention to detail across projects that reflect positively on AUIB’s brand and strategic priorities
  • Plans, develops, and project manages social media assignments, as well as incoming and existing workflow, and supports the team in best practices to ensure projects are tasked and completed on time
  • Conceptualizes, researches, and executes projects and initiatives requiring a high degree of sophistication and depth of knowledge in order to promote the AUIB brand
  • Keeps leadership and other staff members informed of progress, seeking review and approval at regular intervals, as well as collects feedback from other departments
  • Other duties as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/certificate or equivalent experience in Marketing and/or Communications
  • Social media campaign content creation experience across multiple social media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword search, and analytics
  • Proven ability to anticipate future trends in digital technology and act proactively
  • Five or more years’ experience in social media or media team project management
  • Can communicate fluently in Arabic and English
  • Five or more years’ work experience communicating with international audiences
  • Five or more years’ work experience in an international social media or marketing campaign setting
  • Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and strong critical thinking, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in an international higher education setting
  • Creative experience in print or digital media
