The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is seeking applicants for the position of Coalition for Just Reparations (C4JR) Social media / digital communication officer at the location in Erbil, Iraq, responsible for the maintenance and further development of C4JR’s website, newsletter and social media channels. The digital communication officer will work in close collaboration with the Jiyan PR team, C4JR secretariat and other bodies to make C4JR’s work visible on digital channels and improve C4JR’s digital identity.

Based Erbil
Reports to Head of C4JR Secretariat/Head of Jiyan Foundation´s Program for Rights and Justice, Head of Fundraising and PR, Project Coordinator and Center Manager
Required Degree Journalism, communications, law or other social sciences degree
Required experience No less than one year of experience in the field of public relations, advocacy etc.


  1. Supports and promotes C4JR goals, through message development, creation of social media content and media outreach as part of C4JR’s strategic communication;
  2. Maintains, updates, and develops C4JR website;
  3. Produces and prepares audio, video and photo material for all online channels;
  4. Develops digital communications, particularly the newsletter, in coordination with the Jiyan PR team, C4JR secretariat and other bodies;
  5. Responsible for content planning, content creation, analysis and evaluation of C4JR social media channels, newsletter and website and developed ideas for optimization;
  6. Contributes to the organisation and effective promotion of relevant communication events;
  7. Designs and implements online advocacy campaigns promoting the C4JR;
  8. Designs printed and multimedia materials;
  9. Manages freelancers and agencies that support us in our activities
  10. Carries out other related tasks;


  • Proficient in English and with excellent Arabic and Kurdish language skills;
  • BA/ BS Degree, preferably in the field of media/marketing/digital communication/journalism or similar;
  • Expert using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin
  • Demonstrates proficiency with one or more image editing programs (Photoshop, Premiere, Indesign, Canva or similar)
  • Demonstrates ability with WordPress and Divi tools extension
  • Has experience with content management systems, social media tools, e.g. Hootsuite and the Facebook Business Manager, and other digital tools;
  • Experience in designing newsletters, email templates, building email lists and implementing email advocacy campaigns (by using Mailchimp or a similar program);
  • A minimum of one year experience in online and social media management as well as campaign work;
  • Passionate about communication, social media, and new developments in the digital world, as well as interested in promoting peace, human rights and social justice;
  • Experience working in human rights NGO is preferred.


  1. Participation in staff-to-staff training as well as seminars with external trainers;
  2. Access to a special library with a large collection of literature on human rights, torture, mental and physical health etc., for self-study;
  3. Paid holidays (24 days for the full-time position) plus 15 statutory holidays. Additional paid holidays, especially on the occasion of religious festivals, may be agreed upon;
  4. Voluntary pension scheme with employer contributions;
