Duration of Contract: One-year fixed term contract (with the possibility of renewal to an open-ended contract where performance and competencies are key to be selected for further contractual continuity)

The social worker is responsible for assisting and supporting the persons with disabilities (PwD) who are receiving Physical Rehabilitation services from the center by assessing their status and supporting them accordingly. This physiotherapy rehabilitation center (PRC) in Nasiriyah is a Centre of Referral and as such will have a higher number of PwDs referred here.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identifies and maps social-inclusion/service-access networks; conducts stakeholder analyses and keeps regular contact with community representatives and relevant organizations;
    • Assesses patient/user access to services and suggests programme adjustments to the multidisciplinary team. Areas of evaluation for physical rehabilitation and psychosocial and mental health programmes might include: financial support, schooling, vocational training, sports and micro-economic initiatives.
    • Ensures appropriate management of information collected and produces the respective reports.
    • Organizes and participates in workshops/training related to access to services for vulnerable groups, inclusion for people with disabilities, integration into the community for victims of violence, and other relevant subjects.
    • Helps organize meetings; advises other staff members about his/her field of activities.
  • Prepares for meetings and workshops by organizing participant travel arrangements with relevant departments, and setting up rooms and materials, including technical set-up, presentations, and video conferences.
    • Understands the ICRC physical rehabilitation program objectives and is able to communicate them to interlocutors and beneficiaries.

Education and Professional Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a minimum of One year of work experience or secondary-level education with 4 years of work experience;
  • Fluent written and spoken command of Arabic as well as English;
  • Experience in low-resource settings an advantage;
  • Previous experience with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an asset.
