Brief description of the organization
· Al Mesalla for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 registered in Baghdad and Erbil with headquarters located in Erbil. The organization is working at disseminating a culture of human rights and peace building in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The organization is currently working along 3 programs: a non-violence and peace building program developing peace capacities within the community; a women empowering program which is for women to take an active role in the community and a Human Rights Program which focuses especially on enhancing freedom of expression. Since June 2014, Al Mesalla developed services to the growing refugee and displaced community settling in the Kurdish Region of Iraq by participating to distributing emergency support and establishing empowerment and livelihoods programs for displaced women.
BACKGROUND
After the conflict between Iraq and coming of ISIS and Mosul liberation operation, huge number IDPs are present in Kurdistan/ Iraq, as it is often the case in any humanitarian crises, women and girls face increased risk of violence and in particular camp settings, where living spaces are confined, infrastructures are weak and activities are limited, therefore, tension arises, and psychological wellbeing is disturbed. The women wellbeing is a needed side. And another one is quite problematic since many families revert to this option as a sort of protection and coping mechanism given the cultural context and already prior structural practices where the husband is expected to provide financial and physical protection. UNFPA responded by supporting Al-Mesalla organization by establishing women spaces in Erbil and district with aim of using it as a social space and a base to raise awareness about women issues and about the risks which women in new IDPs camps from Mosul who have been feed to the camps which established deferent humanitarian actors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
1. Social working
· Psychosocial support for women protection cases
· Submitting awareness lectures about women empowerment and reproductive health topics
· Reporting timely to the coordinators.
· Volunteer work when needed is a part of TOR.
· Conduct sessions, follow up on cases, and manage client needs.
· Meet with women at home, encourage participation in center activities, act as confidantes.
· Community Engagement: Utilize deep understanding of local communities to build trust and provide support.
2. space managing
Planning and managing women space activities.
· Weekly reporting and monthly plans of activities
· Collaborate with stakeholders like government offices, women’s centers, NGOs, and community members.
· Assist with tasks like attendance tracking for staffs and participants in trainings.
· Oversee all aspects of center operations, including staff, budgeting, and program development.
· Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives for the center.
· Resource Management: Secure funding, manage financial resources, and allocate resources effectively.
· Train, and supervise centre staff, ensuring performance and adherence to policy.
· Ensure accurate reporting to funders and stakeholders and meet all regulatory requirements.
· 3. Representation
· Ensure maximum visibility of the agency amongst the UN and NGO community in Erbil.
· Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
4-Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Social Worker, Sociology and has not less than 3 years of work experience in this job.
· At least experience of one years in social working
· English and Arabic language are required.
· Experience in emergencies and conflict areas strongly preferred.
· Relevant regional experience strongly preferred.
· Familiarity with standards and guidelines for women programming and coordination
· Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
· Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
· Team player and strong communication skills, both oral and written
· Proficient in computer applications, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, MS PowerPoint a plus.
· Experience in per education, live skills and civic.
