Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Pipeline Construction to oversee and provide technical guidance on pipeline projects in the Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Construction industries. The SME will be responsible for ensuring pipeline construction activities meet international standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. This role, based in Basra, Iraq, requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and oversight for all phases of pipeline construction, from planning and design to execution and commissioning.
- Develop and review project-specific pipeline construction plans, procedures, and specifications.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct technical reviews and assessments of materials, welding techniques, and pipeline integrity.
- Oversee and ensure adherence to international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) for pipeline construction.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize project performance.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Provide training and mentorship to pipeline construction teams to enhance technical capabilities.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation, including progress updates, technical recommendations, and lessons learned.
- Stay informed on advancements in pipeline construction technology and incorporate best practices into project execution.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Pipeline Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in pipeline construction or quality assurance are highly desirable (e.g., API 1169).
- Experience:
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in pipeline construction within Oil & Gas, Renewables, or Construction industries.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction methods, materials, and safety protocols.
- Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale pipeline projects, preferably in Iraq or similar regions.
- Skills:
- Expertise in pipeline construction techniques, welding, and integrity testing.
- Strong understanding of environmental and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing technical documentation and reports.
