Essential :-  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications related to TETRA systems & DIMETRA IP Compact, or equivalent experience in radio communication network management. 8+ Years of experience in managing TETRA radio communication networks, including experience in a supervisory role. TETRA network infrastructure & operations. Knowledge of TETRA base station maintenance. Configuration & operation of base stations & radios, including mobile, fixed, & portable units. Network fault management, diagnosis, & performance optimization. Vendor & contract management, within TETRA systems. RFP preparation & management. Communication system software upgrades, patch management, & system compatibility.

Tetra Engineer role synopsis

The TETRA Engineer is responsible for leading a team in the operation & maintenance of the TETRA Network, which includes a geographically redundant DIMETRA IP. Express system with 7 base stations, a Dispatch Subsystem, Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), 100 mobile/fixed radios, & over 1700 portable radios covering the Rumaila field (80 km by 20 km). This role is crucial for ensuring reliable radio communication across the field, coordinating with vendors for system support, implementing software updates & fault management. The TETRA Engineer will manage vendor relationships to ensure adequate coverage in case of system failures, overseeing all aspects of software maintenance & operational uptime. In addition, the TETRA Engineer will prepare & manage RFP (Request for Proposal) packages for TETRA-related contracts, handling the process end-to-end. The role also involves providing guidance & support to national staff, promoting best practices for RFP preparation for other contract needs.

Tetra Engineer key accountabilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, & maintenance of TETRA Network infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation across a geographically redundant system.
  • Supervise a team of three engineers, ensuring adherence to operational standards, fostering skill development, & promoting best practices.
  • Manage vendor relationships, coordinating maintenance & updates to keep the system software current & fault-free. Ensure the vendor provides adequate support coverage during failures or critical incidents.
  • Oversee continuous monitoring of the TETRA Network, managing system performance, diagnosing issues & implementing corrective actions to maintain high availability.
  • Ensure all software is updated & compatible with system requirements, coordinating with vendors to install patches & upgrades as needed.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues within the TETRA Network, coordinating with the team & vendor for swift incident resolution & root cause analysis.
  • Prepare & manage RFP packages for TETRA related contracts, overseeing the entire procurement process, from documentation to final vendor selection.
  • Provide best-practice guidance & support to national staff in preparing RFPs for other required contracts, fostering knowledge transfer & promoting consistent standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of system configurations, operational procedures, & RFP documentation to ensure compliance with organizational & regulatory standards.
  • Proactively identify & address potential risks to the TETRA Network, implementing preventive measures & coordinating with vendors to maintain system resilience.
