​Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (OIEP) collects, analyzes, organizes, and communicates data and information to provide a valid, consistent, and accurate understanding of how the institution is fulfilling its mission to become a top-ranked university in the KRI and larger Middle East Region.​

Position Summary

​​Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Planning (OIEP), the Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for providing crucial support for fulfilling the University’s establishment of a strong infrastructure for Institutional Research aligned with the expectations of U.S. accreditation. This position provides support for the institutional effectiveness efforts of academic and non-academic units focused on continuous improvement, strategic and operational planning, program review, accreditation, assessment, grants, and other special initiatives.

Key Responsibilities


  • Plan and conduct institutional research activities and data collection to support continuous improvement, accreditation, mission fulfillment, etc.
  • Support in building capacity for a systematic review of KPIs, assessments plans, and assessment strategies and rubrics.
  • Facilitate collection, warehousing, analysis, and visualization of institutional data to support effective decision-making and policy recommendations.
  • Conduct complex database queries, using SQL, PeopleSoft Query, or similar querying tool to extract data from large relational databases to create user-friendly reports.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions that are automated, sustainable, and can be shared with staff of the OIEP as well as a broad range of constituents.
  • Document processes, communicate with end-users, and ensure users are able to regularly access and use data and data reports.
  • Provide support for survey development, administration and analysis and for qualitative data collection and analysis including interviews and/or focus groups to assess specific department outcomes and needs.
  • Design, develop and maintain data dashboards, identify priority data needs of users, timelines and update cycles, and preferred visual and navigation features of dashboards and develop and facilitate employee trainings related to using data and Tableau dashboards to data literacy and data informed decision making.
  • Coordinate data governance efforts, including monitoring data quality, data definitions, as well as data management.
  • Build capacity among staff of the OIEP in respect to best practices in Institutional Research.

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in institutional research or statistics or related field with significant coursework/research requiring use of measurements/statistics and 5 years practical experience in academic institutional research or in a similar position in higher education (Ph.D. preferred).
  • 5 years of professional experience in data management or equivalent field or combination of education/work experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheet, database, reporting, project management, and presentation tools; experience with statistical analysis software, SQL, and Power BI preferred.
  • Experience with data dashboard design and data visualization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and succinctly in English in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to organize and manage projects. Ability to find, sort, analyze, and report information quickly and accurately.
  • Familiarity with external information sources for developing demographic and economic reports is desirable.
