Visual Editor (reports through Director and Associate Director)

Position Description:

This role will develop photography and videography material designed for targeted communications and visual outreach. This role will conduct audience research regarding AUIB’s diverse stakeholders and outreach target communities, and conceptualize, strategize, create, and edit all University photo and video content.

Main duties and key responsibilities include:

  • Performs as AUIB’s Visual Editor and creates and executes all functions of the position in coordination with and under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director
  • Serves as a focal point for both the AUIB internal community and external stakeholders concerning visual content
  • Provides a consistent brand voice across all visual content, materials, and activities
  • Tracks visual campaign trends and results and compares with goals with a dedication to continuous improvement/engagement
  • Manages and art directs photo/video shoots with internal clients and for University-wide campaigns
  • Acts as liaison with the University’s production company to create and manage visual projects for all exposure platforms
  • Act as the university photographer/videographer during events, visits and when assigned by Director and Associate Director.
  • Liaise among Marketing and Communications team members to support the department graphic designer to identify the best practice to maintain AUIB visual identity.
  • Develops original and unique content that promotes the AUIB brand
  • Conceptualizes, creates, and executes visual exposure opportunities for the institution’s events, leadership, partnerships, faculty, and students
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of proprietary data, materials, and other sensitive information
  • Liaises with Marketing and Communications team regarding content creation and updates, prioritizes needs, and helps develop content
  • Collaborates and assists with all Marketing and Communications initiatives, informing team colleagues of visual opportunities and trends as part of a holistic AUIB brand outreach and development
  • Interprets competitor strategies and consumer/audience behavior
  • Works under pressure and adheres to strict deadlines
  • Advises team on social media branding and reputation opportunities, including reputational risk
  • Identifies exposure opportunities for the AUIB brand and creates photo and video campaigns that push the University’s mission and vision forward to identified stakeholders
  • Helps department leads manage and track strategic initiatives, working with direct supervisors, peers, and other internal departments, programs, and Colleges to track progress and results and inform future exposure and outreach decisions
  • Ensures accuracy and attention to detail across projects that reflect positively on AUIB’s brand and strategic priorities
  • Plans, develops, and project manages creative assignments, as well as incoming and existing workflow, and supports the team in best practices to ensure projects are tasked and completed on time
  • Conceptualizes, researches, and executes projects and initiatives requiring a high degree of sophistication and depth of knowledge in order to promote the AUIB brand
  • Keeps leadership and other staff members informed of progress, seeking review and approval at regular intervals, as well as collects feedback from other departments
  • Other duties as required

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/certificate or equivalent experience in Creative Media, Marketing, Media Production, Fine Arts and/or Communications
  • Proven photo and video content creation experience across multiple media platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of production and editing equipment and software
  • Proven ability to anticipate future trends in industry production and technology and act proactively
  • Five or more years’ experience in media team project management
  • Can communicate fluently in Arabic and English
  • Five or more years’ work experience creating material developed for international audiences
  • Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and strong critical thinking, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in an international higher education setting
  • Experience writing voiceover/commentary in Arabic and English

Position Type: Full time/Regular, local hire or expat eligible
