This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with Travel Requirement.

Rotation: 5 days on 2 days off

Key Objectives

  • The Deputy Operations Advisor – Water Injection is responsible for supporting the Senior Superintendent in overseeing the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all water injection facilities within the Client field. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, supervising daily activities of water treatment and injection operations, and ensuring compliance with company objectives, HSE standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist the Senior Superintendent in planning, organizing, and overseeing day-to-day operations of water injection and treatment facilities (MOD300, HPI Station, Produced Water Treatment, Euphrates Intake Station, WSWs, and injection wells).
  • Provide on-site leadership and guidance to operational staff, ensuring tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Maintenance, Reservoir, Wellwork, etc.) to ensure alignment and smooth execution of water injection strategies.
  • Step in for the Senior Superintendent as needed, maintaining continuity of leadership and decision-making in their absence.
  • Actively monitor on-site activities, identify potential hazards, and lead immediate corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring lessons learned are promptly incorporated into operational practices.
  • Monitor water injection parameters, equipment performance, and operational KPIs; recommend improvements to optimize injection rates and facility uptime.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Superintendent to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including system inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance issues.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and analysis to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of training programs for local operators, focusing on technical and operational competency.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to operations staff, fostering a high-performance team environment.
  • Promote best practices in startup/shutdown procedures, process troubleshooting, and emergency response protocols.
  • Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly reports on water injection performance, HSE metrics, and improvement actions.

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduced downtime and optimized water injection volumes in line with company targets.
  • Team Development: Improved competency and retention of local operators through effective training and mentorship.
  • Cost Management: Contribute to meeting or reducing OPEX targets by identifying inefficiencies and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Enhanced operational reliability and performance through proactive troubleshooting, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing.

Expected:

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in Oil & Gas operations, with substantial exposure to water treatment and water injection processes.
  • Strong knowledge of water injection, reservoir management, produced water handling, and related equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
  • Skilled at interpreting operational data, identifying trends, and generating insights to optimize facility performance.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point). PI (Production Information System) desirable, EC, Choke model, Maximo.
