Role synopsis   

The Well Services Manager (WSM) position is a critical position within the Wells team and is essential to deliver the agreed production targets. The WSM manages a multi-cultural team of WS Engineers, Superintendents, Coordinators and Well Site Leaders to safely and efficiently coordinate up to 50 field teams simultaneously covering coiled tubing, pumping, wireline, slickline, well testing and wellhead maintenance activities.  The WSM also manages the Well Integrity Team; testing, verifying, and repairing wells to assure barrier health and minimise risk across the 1200+ well stock.  To achieve all of this, the WSM must work closely with colleagues in PSCM, Subsurface, Projects, HSE and Production Operations, rig and service providers and the delivery teams in the Wells organization.  The Well Services Manager reports directly to the Head of Department; the Senior Wells Manager.

Key accountabilities

•             Delivers well service operations in conformance with policy, practices and international standards.

•             Owns the Well Integrity Management System and assures effective conformance to requirements.

•             Delivers production adding, surveillance, well maintenance and well integrity servicing operations to approved time and cost.

•             Engages with subsurface leadership to progress the wellwork and surveillance options for well servicing activity. Ensures all stakeholders are aligned during the progress of multi-disciplinary planning work.

•             Owns the time and cost estimates for well servicing budgeting & manages the budget/forecast updates.

•             Oversees contractor HSE performance at well locations, ensuring contractor conformance to contractor SMS and control of work requirements.

•             Acts as the Contractor Accountable Manager for key well services suppliers and manages interventions to contractor performance deficits.

•             Acts as Contractor Accountable Manager for emergency rapid response services and is responsible for Wells emergency response readiness to well integrity incidents.

•             Develops the long-term contracting strategy in line with the Asset Development Plan.

•             Represents the Wells team in the tendering / governance process to implement new contracts for Well Services Activities.

•             Manages the major accident risk management processes for well services operations, including Self-Verification and Contractor oversight, risk assessment/management, & barrier health verification.

•             Provides operational and engineering oversight to well services programme development.

•             Leads major HSE & NPT incident reporting and investigations.

•             Coaching and development of Iraqi Staff.

•             Develops well services practices and tools to continuously improve business and safety performance.

•             Rota-based Incident Commander on the Incident Management Team.

Criteria and Qualifications

•             Possesses international experience in the oil & gas industry, with a successful track record as a well service manager in an Operating Company.

•             Deep well service discipline knowledge; encompassing all aspects of production adding (stimulation, zonal isolation), surveillance (logging, well testing), well maintenance and well integrity management.

•             Experience of managing +$100m contracts, sourcing of materials and services in a fast-paced operational environment.

•             Ability to lead the technical evaluation of service supplier contract tenders.

•             Business acumen, encompassing an understanding of budgetary management and financial decision making.

•             Effective and proficient communicator, both verbal and written (English language at a high proficiency level is required).

•             Ability to make wise decisions and initiate actions.

•             Ability to build effective relationships with peers, team members & key external parties (contractor leadership and JV partners).

•             Track history of building and motivating teams in a multi-cultural environment.

•             Maintains a high standard of business integrity, professional behaviour and confidentiality.
