Construction Cost Engineer

Job Location: Iraq – Baghdad.

Job Type: On Site – Full Time.

The Construction Cost Engineer is responsible for estimating the costs associated with construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses. This role involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure cost estimates are accurate and reflect the project’s scope. The individual will also monitor project expenses, identify variances between estimated and actual costs, and implement cost-saving the position is intended for our Projects located in Baghdad Iraq.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary information for accurate costing.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to understand the scope and requirements for cost estimation.
  • Utilize cost-estimating software and methodologies to prepare and update cost plans.
  • Perform risk analysis to identify potential cost overruns and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress and costs, comparing actual expenses against estimates and budget.
  • Prepare cost reports and forecasts, highlighting any deviations from the budget and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support the procurement process by evaluating bids and quotes from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project specifications and budget requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related insights and updates.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and construction methods to enhance cost estimation accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Review and audit the cost systems received from the stakeholders which needs strong MS Excel knowledge specially in making summary, grouping, sorting, etc. by using pivoting the charts and tables.
  • Strong documentation knowledge for the related documents

Education & Work Experience (Preferred Background):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying, or a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in cost-estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and market trends.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of project stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and experience in scheduling software’s (P6 or MS Project) is considered a plus
  • Basic reading skill in Turkish knowledge is considered a plus
