Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified [Economic Recovery Assistant ]

Overall purpose of the role:

responsible for implementing economic recovery (ER) projects in the field on daily base activities, liaising with relevant stakeholders, beneficiary’s registration and selection, and monitoring beneficiaries.

Reporting to: Economic Recovery Team leader

Unit/department: Economic Recovery

Location: Anbar, Faluja with frequent travels to Bzibiz and other areas of intervention.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the economic recovery team in networking with the stakeholders such as local authorities, NGOs and INGOs and other relevant project partners.
  • Economic recovery project assistant is responsible in communicating and mobilizing for the EcRec projects with the target communities according to the DRC SOPs, project objectives and processes.
  • Beneficiary identification, registration, and selection for the EcRec projects.
  • In cooperation with the EcRec officer and with the support from EeRec team leader collecting beneficiary’s data according to DRC selection criteria per each activity, including assisting and conducting the livelihoods counseling process.
  • Implementing EcRec projects in the field following DRC procedures.
  • Assisting and leading the relevant livelihoods training courses to the beneficiaries such as: life skills, business management skills, employability, language skills trainings…etc.
  • Working on multiple relevant livelihoods activities such as business grant, vocational trainings, cash for work, Perma Garden, Waste and water management and community awareness activities.
  • Conduct daily project site visits and write reports accordingly
  • Ensuring that beneficiary documentation is correctly captured and filed for all the EcRec activities.
  • Monitoring of project sites, beneficiaries, distributions and following up daily on any issues that arise.
  • Ensure that the project engages local stakeholders and develops local capacity for longer term sustainability
  • Commit to continuous learning and overall self-development
  • Any other assignment by the line manager, including preparation of logistic, procurement and finance requirements

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Understanding of DRC’s work and ability to follow up on project sites.
  • A suitable qualification or experience in Development work
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations
  • Punctual reliable and efficient
  • Knowledge of EcRec activities
  • Good communication skills.
  • Skill of problem solving.
  • Ability of making decisions.

Preferred attributes

  • Prior experience working with NGOs or INGOs
  • Experience with Economic recovery/ Livelihoods, agricultural or environmental related programs

Education:

  • university degree of Agriculture, civil engineering, or relevant educational background

Languages:

  • Spoken and written Arabic and English is appreciated.
