Position Summary:The Electrical/Instrument Trainee Technician will be responsible to the HKN Site E&I Technician for the safe, efficient & cost-effective operation of HKN sites in Kurdistan region of Iraq. They will train to perform preventive and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on electrical and instrumentation systems.

Remote site and camp-based position requiring the candidate to work equal time shift rotation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely whilst always adhering to site HSE procedures and Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Work within the Boundaries of the Permit to Work system, acting as a Performing Authority and working towards CEP status.
  • Complete Electrical & Instrumentation Competency Profile Workbook to prove you have the developed the knowledge & skills to work within an Electrical & Instruments Role.
  • Monitoring and controlling works by vendors/contractors within his/her remit.
  • Update and maintain the maintenance management system with detailed information in work order close-outs.
  • Write clear and precise detailed handovers for your B2B and coach.
  • Perform isolations/de-isolations as required and perform preventative and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on safety and control systems.
  • Develop skills to be able to perform isolations/de-isolations as required and perform preventative and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on safety and Electrical equipment ELV / LV / HV (up to 400V).
  • Perform maintenance activities on all site instrumentation including; Level, Pressure, Temperature, Flow Transmitters and Control Valves.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient operation of allocated Electrical equipment, systems, and installation areas.
  • Carry out all fault-finding and routine testing of site wide Fire & Gas maintenance and associated activities.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults to maximise equipment availability, identify spares requirement and stock control.
  • Focal point for monitoring and controlling works by vendors/contractors within his/her remit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates ideally have previous minimum of 3 years’ experience in an E&I role with exposure to all aspects of maintenance in oil and gas processes.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated and proactive plus be able to demonstrate their ability to work within a small operations team structure.
  • Technical university degree beneficial in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics subjects.
  • Candidates must be proficient in English language both verbal and written.
  • Be computer literate and able to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be fit and Healthy and have an up-date Yellow Card with Doctors certificates.
  • Must have the physical abilities to carry out the functions of the job description in an irregular shift pattern.
