JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Site HSE Engineer (Iraqi local nationals only) this position, and work pattern is 6/1 basis as such, we can only consider applications from local Iraqi nationals residing in Basra and surrounding areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and help control daily HSE practices through regular checks of work sites, ensure that hazards are identified, precautionary measures are implemented and relevant HSE advice provided.
  • Ensure that project Health, Safety and Environmental programs and procedures are communicated to and regularly reinforced with site personnel
  • Promote safe working systems and procedures and monitor the proper application of the “Permit to Work” system, SIMOPS and associated Job Safety Analysis, as well as to ensure that other approved project HSE and contractor related policies, plans, procedures, and guidelines are followed.
  • Review and provide comments regarding contractor developed HSE plans and procedures
  • Coordinate and participate in the provision of HSE awareness in accordance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 specifications Prepare programs and arrange participation training sessions in conjunction with line management.
  • Participate as member of construction site emergency response team and provide first line advice to the designated Incident Controller and / or On Scene Commander concerning containment of emergency.
  • Ensure that any incidents are immediately reported to management and project HSES in parallel
  • Investigate all site HSE related incidents, including near misses, to an appropriate level. Analyze immediate and root causes, determine future action to reduce these occurrences
  • Promote, support and participate in HSE Observation Card (HSEOC) program
  • Prepare and maintain statistical records of site HSE performance (eg, work-hours, leading and lagging indicators, etc) and communicate regularly with  HSE Advisor and the Home office based project HSE Engineers and the project Safety Analyst
  • Conduct frequent audits and inspections to ensure the effectiveness of HSE programs on critical operations/equipment and procedures at assigned location; present recommendations for improvement and follow-up their implementation.
  • Attend client meetings and communicate issues with lead engineer as required
  • Interact with team members in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
  • Executing assigned scopes of work.
  • Supporting and supervising task delegation to team.
  • Providing discipline expertise to the business
  • Participating in project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required
  • Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
  • Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
  • Providing technical support to site as required

  • Ensure that project Health, Safety and Environmental programs and procedures are communicated to and regularly reinforced with site personnel.
  • Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
  • Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up.
  • Capable of reviewing and approving Method statement and task risk assessment.
  • Capable of carrying out facility, equipment and resource inspection and certifying which ever required.
  • Executing assigned personal objectives
  • Flexible and adaptable

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (essential)

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Minimum 10 years in Oil & Gas Project HSE and Execution.
  • Experience in Brown and Greenfield construction projects.
  • Previous experience in EPC projects.
  • Brownfield and shutdown experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with good initiative and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work within multi-cultural workforces and environments.
