VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY
Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is a charitable organization supporting survivors of human rights violations, defending fundamental freedoms, and promoting democratic values. Our programs provide mental health services, medical treatment, and other support services to survivors of trauma, terror, domestic violence, and human rights violations in Iraq and Syria.
For the implementation of our human rights education and dialogue projects, we are seeking volunteers for the following position:
Organization: Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights.
Position: M&E Volunteer
Employment Type: On-call.
Contract Duration: Under grade.
Location: Sulimanyia, Duhok and Kirkuk.
Reports To: Senior M&E Officer and M&E Coordinator.
Number of Employees: 3
Required Degree: High school or above.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The M&E Intern will assist in monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting of program activities to ensure the organization’s goals and objectives are met effectively. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) practices, with exposure to key sectors such as MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support), Democracy & Civil Society, Human Rights & Justice, and Capacity Building.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitoring Support:
o Participate in field visits to collect data and observe project activities.
o Collect both quantitative and qualitative data from beneficiaries, stakeholders, and program activities.
2. Data Collection & Entry:
o Support the collection and cleaning of data for M&E activities.
o Assist in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather feedback on programs.
3. Data Analysis:
o Assist in analyzing data gathered from various program activities.
o Support interpreting results and identifying trends, challenges, and successes.
4. Learning and Capacity Building:
o Engage in learning sessions to enhance M&E knowledge.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience: Previous volunteer or internship experience in M&E or research is a plus (but not required).
• Skills:
o Basic knowledge of M&E principles and methodologies.
o Experience using Kobo Toolbox for data collection and management.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Good written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
