JOB SUMMARY

The Network Engineer Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the network team to ensure the optimal performance, security, and reliability of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role involves coordinating daily work assignments, setting priorities, and managing the workload to ensure timely and effective network operations. The Network Engineer supervisor will oversee the training and professional development of network administrators, ensuring they are well-versed in company policies, procedures, and best practices. Key responsibilities include assessing staff proficiency, conducting regular performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards, and maintaining a high level of quality control across network management activities. The Network Engineer supervisor will also monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions to maintain operational continuity. Additionally, this role requires ensuring that all network activities align with company goals, industry standards, regulatory requirements.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, direct, develop, monitor/supervise, maintain, and ensure the implementation of Cisco Wireless/Wired LAN, CUCM, Cisco Voice Systems and other network technologies/system.
  • Be proactive with the procurement of network equipment and software, including receiving, physical installation and configuration, including disposing of equipment no longer needed according to policy.
  • Ensure that proper network and communication hardware and software inventories are up to date.
  • Maintain all licenses and support contract documentation.
  • Take technical lead of critical network incidents and drive internal and external resources into troubleshooting efforts.
  • Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network equipment within the Balad/AFAB (Sallyport, BAN/ESS) Network Infrastructure, including Cisco Routers, Cisco ASR, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Switches, Cisco Nexus (Series), Cisco DNA, ISE, FortiGate firewalls, SonicWALL firewalls, FortiAnalyzer load balancers, VPN, QoS, CUCM, VoIP, and any other network devices.
  • Review and advise on network security measures and monitoring.
  • Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.
  • Respond to all network outages or performance issues and direct his team to execute necessary repair or configuration changes.
  • Participates in the IT Change Management and Asset Management processes.
  • Ensure that no changes are made to the network infrastructure without prior approval through the Change Request (CRQ) process and strictly adhere to company change management protocols.
  • Audit access rights and permissions policies as required by the business.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and support all operational security requirements for network devices and network operations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and support of the following NOC functional areas that include, but are not limited to wireless LAN, firewall management, IP address management, DNS administration, DHCP administration, Understand dynamic multipoint VPNs and all aspects of VoIP.
  • Be On-Call for emergencies and support any business-critical communication issues outside of regular working hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering is required.
  • Ten years of experience in IT preferability in network engineering or operations, is required.
  • Three to five years of experience with direct supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Cisco Professional Level Certification is required.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation and CompTIA Security+ are desirable.
  • Working Knowledge of SonicWall and FortiGate Firewalls is required.
  • Familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks is required.
  • Four years of experience providing network support in one or more of the following areas:
  • Implementing network security policies and vulnerability management, wireless access point at Management and Administration. Cisco ISE 3.0 (or later) configuration of access/authorization policies and or Cisco DNA.
  • In-depth knowledge of windows systems, networking, database fundamentals, and other technologies stacks.
  • Excellent communication skills, in both written and oral/verbal.
  • Good organizational and time management skills are needed. This can be shown through the ability to prioritize duties in the face of multiple projects/tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build a strong, cohesive team whose members have complementary strengths.
  • Ability to promote cross-functional collaboration and teamwork.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Software-defined (SD) networking, including SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to carry out instructions and to deal with problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to think logically from problem to solution and when appropriate develop alternative solutions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS

  • Physical ability to lift to 40 lbs. and maneuver in tight spaces in office places.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
