Job Summary

The Hope and Healing Program meets the physical and mental needs of vulnerable families in Sinjar through mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS).

The Livelihood & Agriculture Assistant will assist with trainings to help increase capacity and sense of agency of beneficiaries thru small poultry and small garden projects.  The goal of this position is to assist with training beneficiaries and help them increase their skills and ability to care for small scale poultry and small garden projects as positive resiliency skills. The Livelihood and Agriculture Assistant will develop and maintain working relationships with other MHPSS providers throughout the area to ensure beneficiaries have access to the services they need.  Additional responsibilities may include helping to plan and implement community events to increase awareness about mental health and wellness.

Job Duties

1- Serve staff and beneficiaries with creativity, kindness, and generosity

2- Coordinate with MHPSS team about referrals to other health care providers in the area for beneficiary care

3- Support with beneficiary selection process, distribution, and regular follow up visits for poultry and gardens beneficiaries

4- Conduct assessments for identifying future programmatic activities in areas and to assess motivational and psychosocial issues among individuals and in the community

5- Support with training, fostering discussion and follow up lessons as necessary to beneficiaries

6- Provide admin support and perform data-entry, collect all beneficiary relate documentation

7- Write weekly and monthly reports, updates, and coordinate with the team in collecting information and updating the beneficiary tracker

8- Accompany MHPSS team on house visits to support the family with basic physical and emotional needs, make appropriate referrals to respond to those needs with compassionate action

9- Consistent follow-up visits and encouragement to beneficiary families who engage with the program

10- Manage beneficiary complaints, requests and cases, referring cases to Program Manager

Complete other activities as directed by the Line Manager and performing all other tasks and responsibilities assigned for the benefit of Samaritans Purse with a generous and serving spirit.

Skills Required

Education / Experience Needed

– Bachelor’s Degree in livelihoods and/or agriculture

– More than one-year experience working in livelihood or agriculture project

– Experience working a MHPSS program or providing case management (preferred)

– Previous experience offering beneficiary related training (preferred)
